Challenge

The main challenge here was creating engaging and complex features centered around competition and winning—within the context of a raffle system—while also serving a noble cause. Overusing certain elements could easily tip the balance, inadvertently reminding users of a gambling system and its potential negative consequences. The primary goal of the raffle, however, was to support a charitable cause, and it was essential to keep that focus front and center.

This case study graphically presents both the raffle system and the affiliate portal, and in some areas the latter takes precedence over the former in quantitative terms.

01

Synopsis

Approach

The collaboration began when Steve, the owner of Sportank, reached out with a request to enhance his existing system. He wanted to add more features, including an affiliate program portal and a raffle system for users. The raffle had a special significance—it was tied to a fund created in memory of his late daughter, Amelie, continuing to honour her to this day. I was deeply moved by the scope and the cause behind the project, and I was eager to contribute to creating something impactful.

To kick things off, we conducted a series of interviews such that I could gain a deeper understanding of the business’ goals and audience. Each step of the process was complemented by feedback and handover meetings, allowing us to refine deliverables in an iterative manner.

User Flow

User Flow

Designing the user flow proved to be a challenge, particularly because I needed to familiarize myself with the intricacies of building a digital affiliate program. I researched various implementations to understand best practices. With multiple user roles and different stages involved in the sign-up process, creating a clear user flow was essential to ensure that no logical gaps were overlooked and that each potential user state had a solution.

I further evolved the existent design system with contributions like buttons, modals, 3D graphics, and other UI elements. These helped create a cohesive, engaging interface that was both functional and visually appealing.

Design Solution

The solution was a thoughtful blend of statistics that highlighted users’ winning potential, alongside social proof elements to build trust and engagement. The purchase process was designed to be detailed and transparent, ensuring users understood exactly where their money was going.

Additionally, the system incorporated financial metrics like raised funds and funded amounts, providing further transparency and reinforcing the positive impact of each contribution.

Challenge

The goal of Chromalysis was to showcase how slight design changes—specifically in color and layout variations—can significantly impact user perception and experience. The experiment focused on an AI-driven biotech firm's homepage, creating five distinct versions with six color schemes.

01

Synopsis

Recommendations

The next recommended step is to conduct controlled A/B testing of multiple homepage versions, each designed to highlight different psychological and usability factors. This process will measure user interactions, emotional responses, and conversion-related behaviors across variations. By isolating color schemes and structural changes, we can gain deeper insights into how visual identity influences usability and brand perception.
